7 IBM Certification Objective: Ensure IBM replacement cartridges performance are equal to that of new HP cartridges while meeting IBM standards for the life of the program. –Emissions testing of all toners is performed by an independent IBM certified lab. Resulting test data is then analyzed by the IBM Toxicology and Chemical Management department to ensure that emitted compounds are within allowable industry standards and internal IBM guidelines. –Print quality must be equal to HP OEM cartridges IBM review and approval of cartridge “Key Performance Parameters” measured by Turbon prior to IBM testing Print quality samples are taken at the beginning, middle and end of cartridge life for IBM review. –Nine cartridges are run on three printers. –IBM and HP cartridges are run on the same printers and in the same environmental conditions. A paired comparison test is performed by IBM using statistically valid methods to ensure the perceived print quality of the IBM cartridges is as good or better than the HP print cartridges.

8 IBM Certification –Yield testing Mono cartridges tested to ISO Color cartridges tested to ISO Yields must be equal or greater than HP’s –On going Quality Control Quarterly reviews of production quality control data and field return data are held with IBM to ensure that product quality achieved during the initial certification is maintained for the life of the product offering.
