Integrated Industry 4.0 and SME’s within the aerospace sector in Ile de France / Paris area AIGLE Project

Why would it be difficult to implement Industry 4.0 with such assets , Ile de France / Paris Area, #1 region in Europe for the aerospace sector Worldclass OEM’s : Airbus, Ariane Espace / ASL, Dassault Aviation, MBDA, Safran, Thales, Zodiac, … Key airport platforms : CDG, ORY, LBG Key decision centers on prospective and research : DGAC, DGA, Gifas, CNES, Onera, … >2000 SME’s, 800 of them with R&D capability on aerospace applications Worldclass professional events : SIAE Le Bourget, AerospaceDays, … Key academics and research organisations : Paris Saclay University, … Why would it be difficult to implement Industry 4.0 with such assets , Which role for SME’s, AIGLE project as a key lever for a regional development policy

Integrated Industry 4.0 Information Knowledge Confidence Integrated Industry 4.0 and the contribution of large companies and SME’s New market requirements Product & Services personalization / flexibility Green requirements / complex regulations Flexible market demand / speed New social environment Y generation and new behaviors (+ autonomy / initiative / training / knowledge) New labor organization 24/7 Integrated Industry 4.0 Information Knowledge Confidence INDUSTRIE 4.0, Just a question of renewed equipment and 3D printing ??? Large companies Complex systems Innovation on Architecture and strategic parts Value chain optimization Long term SME’s Sub-systems & components Functional and manufacturing innovation at part level Cost optimization & agility Short term New capabilities Manufacturing tech (additive manuf.) Mini factories / Reduced economies of scale Information tech & big data Distributed / flexible value chain

Innovation : new products delivered on the market Integrated Industry 4.0 ? : build up confidence and speed up innovation between OEM’s, research centers and SME’s Innovation : new products delivered on the market Innovation has to be implemented within the complex systems / products or services managed by OEM’s to generate actual business Manufacturing engineering and production ramp up are prepared as part of innovation Investment support, management support, training support are considered – not only R&T but also supply chain, program involvement from OEM’s

Confidence build up (connection between people, network) Integrated Industry 4.0 ? : build up confidence and speed up innovation between OEM’s, research centers and SME’s Confidence build up (connection between people, network) Concrete, pragmatic projects with actual parts Small / bottom-up Knowledge valorisation (academics) and explanation – make it simple Speed Light / agile Intellectual Property

AIGLE, a regional platform for SME’s development within an integrated industry 4.0 in the Paris Area– practically : A comprehensive system to support the development of SME’s Industrial parc and incubator, HR services, Demonstrator Inn, link to schools / universities The connection of all contributors to innovation OEM, SME, Research centers, Academics, Territorial Authorities (incl financial support) ASTech competitive cluster base A Demonstrator Inn to implement pragmatic projects by SME’s Innovation opportunity validated upfront by OEM’s (R&T, Supply Chain and Program) Manufacturing engineering resources to prepare for industrialisation with SME’s Industrial equipment to produce an actual demonstration part to be presented to OEM’s Investigation means and link to academics to help formalize acquired know-how Beyond available technological means, the differentiating factor of AIGLE is the connection between OEM, research/academics and SME’s for innovation by SME’s

Consistent to general directives of national / european initiatives AIGLE, a regional plateform within the frame of National or European initiatives Consistent to general directives of national / european initiatives KIC on Added Value Manufacturing / Factory of the Future Industrie du Futur / Usine Aéronautique du Futur SME orientation High TRL / New product orientation Pragmatic with short term impact 2 year projects for new product introduction on the market Involvement of Industry / Research / Academic to mitigate risks associated to innovation Bottom-up complementary to top-down traditionnal approach Thanks to SME agility
