Climate Summers are warm Winters are cold Gets 75 centimeters of rain every year (that’s over 2 feet of rain!) What is special about deciduous trees?
This is because they would not be able to live in the hot sun and heat. They only come out in the night when it is a little cooler.
Deserts. Definition A desert is an area that receives less than 16 inches (40cm) of rain a year. The evaporation rate exceeds the precipitation rate.

Travel Agency By: Peter Mahony, Marlo Cafarelli, Madison Roodman

Travel Agency Locations: To be defined a desert, a location must have an annual rainfall of less than 16 inches. Deserts are located along the equator or near the coast.

Travel Agency Features: Soil quality is very high, however there is not enough water to sustain most life. Flora and Fauna have adapted to the lack of water in the environment.

Travel Agency Temperatures range from degrees Celsius. Max: 49 degrees Celsius Min: -18 degrees Celsius Best time to see wildlife is during the night when temperatures are cooler. Animals burrow to escape heat from the sun. Plants open their stomata only at night in order to prevent evaporation. Common Wildlife includes: Nocturnal small animals, insects, arachnids, reptiles, and birds. Hot and Dry Deserts:

Travel Agency Temperatures range from -2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the winter to degrees Celsius in the summer. Precipitation released in the form of snow. Plant highs range between cm to prevent excess water loss. All animals except for Jackrabbits burrow to keep warm. Wildlife includes small mammals. Plants are deciduous with small leaves. Cold Deserts:

Travel Agency The main threat to deserts is development. As air-conditioning became more easily accessible and affordable, living in the desert become a more reasonable option. Many people began moving to deserts in order to escape allergies or respiratory ailments. Soon irrigation allowed residents to have lawns and other plants. This developing environment caused pollution counts to raise and catch-up with other biomes. Soon desert residents discovered the temperature was sometimes ideal for immense growths of a fungi called Coccidioides immitis. The fungi has spores that reach the lungs and cause infections sometimes called “Valley Fever”. Main Threat:

Travel Agency Tourism Activities: Riding Camels ATV touring Dune Buggy Sand boarding Photography Dirt Biking Hoarse back riding Rock climbing

Travel Agency The diverse and unique climate that is the desert biome deserves to be explored. With limitless possible adventures to be had in this alien landscape, you’ll never be without excitement in your life. Come Visit!
