CPE 71.6% compared to CSC 63.7% and EE 53.8% CPE is the highest among CENG disciplines (excluding General Engineering) 6-year drop-out rate -- Based on 1999 incoming students. 12 Department actions for enhancing student diversity - 1 We are a charter member of CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Association, We are an academic affiliate of the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Academic Scholarship (subject to CSC faculty approval)

13 Department actions for enhancing student diversity - 2 We are supporting a project proposal by UCSB: Transitions: Transforming the Computer Science Image to Broaden Participation and Advancement, in submittal to the National Science Foundation (NSF) Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) program. We support the Women in Engineering Program (WEP) outreach efforts, including activities for Building an Engineer Day and the summer camp (now slated for summer 2007.)

14 How you can help Provide support towards an endowment for scholarships to attract high- quality incoming students (ME has an endowment that allows them to provide scholarships to two new students at $1,200/year, renewable for up to 3 years.) Support the CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Association, Be a corporate affiliate of the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Academic Scholarship (subject to CSC faculty approval) Support our outreach efforts

16 Department Highlights - 2 Several Computer science students (James Skorupski, Mark Gobel, etc.) have been admitted to Ph.D. programs at UCs. CPE students Michael Brown and Jennifer Mankin received fellowships to attend UC Santa Cruz. Jennifer Mankin also gained acceptance to Northeastern and Cornell. Dana Schaa was accepted to both UCSC and Northeastern.

17 Department Highlights - 3 Computer Science student Christopher Brigham has been admitted to the Masters degree program in Computer Science at Stanford University. Michael Curtis McThrow, a first year CSC major from Sacramento, received a NSF REU award for Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Information Technology at University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). New faculty David Janzen placed in the top three of the ACM Student Research Competition Grand Finals.
