Marshall Middle School Science Fair Project Information Session Wednesday, September 2, 2015 6-6:45pm Marshall Middle School Cafeteria

What is a Science Fair Project? A science fair project is: A research project in which data is collected through experimentation, followed by analysis and application of that data. A science fair project is not: An informational presentation or model of written research, or kit building. Miller, Anne Walker. Solar System Model. [Photograph]. Experimentation Project A controlled experiment is one in which only one variable is changed and all other variables are kept the same. This allows the scientist to attribute all changes in data to that one variable. Example: Retrieved from: http://www.pleasval.k12.ia.us/bridgeview/Teachers/krogmanbeth/sciencefairgallerykroymann.htm

Engineering Project An engineering project should seek to improve upon a current design or create a new design/product of your own. Example: CJ. Buiilding Legos with Christ. [Photograph]. Retrieved from: http://buildinglegoswithchrist.blogspot.com/2013/02/lego-bricks-used-for-science-fair.html
