Reading with a Purpose SQ3R Method

Survey Glance over Title, Headings, & Pictures Ask yourself: –“What do I Know?” –“What would I like to Know?’

Question Turn the title, headings, and pictures into questions (rephrase it and WRITE IT DOWN!) Write down unfamiliar vocabulary (bold or not)

Read Actively Read to search for the answers to your questions. WRITE DOWN THESE ANSWERS! Note all unclear or confusing terms or statements –It is okay to add questions as you go!

Recite Glance away from answers and the book and see if you can remember what you just read and wrote down! Recite answers to questions internally.

Review Look over answers and organize information. Make sure you have answered major purpose questions.
