Warm Up Leader should let the athletes know the amount of time allocated for warm up and encourage them to quickly get their marks in place (no more than two) Leader should position themselves level with the starting marks of athletes but in the middle. Watching the athletes and not the bar, the leader is there to arrange the order of trials and to ensure fairness and safety. Ask for height wished to start the warm up and let the two other officials know their wishes. At National Meetings – ascertain the lowest height and allow athletes to indicate to you if they wish to warm up at that height by raising their hand or any other signal appropriate. Move up in intervals of no less than 5cm until each athlete has had two or three heights to try As the athletes warm up they may approach you with their opening heights – note them quickly if you can but do not lose attention to the warm up At the end of the Warm Up gather everyone to check opening heights and let them know how many have chosen first height and the height progression you envisage. Let the two other officials know the first height and check with them when they are happy to start the competition – make sure they know how to let you know of any infringement.
