 Rural communities, such as those in Africa, have low productivity because of poor education. “Out of 128 million African kids, 17 million will never make it into schools.” Since money is scarce, children who do attend schools do not learn enough, and end up being not much better than those who haven’t attended school.  Solving education problems in rural communities can provide children with valuable education on how to live a full, productive life. If provided, the overall global productivity would increase, and there would be fewer deaths in poor communities. People would understand how to treat disease, lower the death rate, and live a fuller, more blissful life. "Africa's Education Crisis: In School But Not Learning." On January 7, 2015, two masked gunmen stormed the Paris office of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical weekly magazine, and killed 12 people, including the paper's top editor, several cartoonists, and two police officers. The provocative magazine, established in 1968, is known for publishing charged cartoons that satirize not only the Prophet Muhammad, but also the pope, most religions, and several world leaders. What exactly is the definition of freedom of press? Is it still applicable when they are making jokes out of another key freedom, religion. In the United States we have five main freedoms, freedom to ask, freedom of speech, freedom to assemble, FREEDOM OF RELIGON, FREEDOM OF PRESS. These two freedoms go hand in hand, so if one was used to make the other seem less important is that still ok? This isn’t just a problem in France, it is a issued every country has to deal with. When is comes down to it, is one freedom more important than the other? The United States needs to get involved before something like this happens in the US. "Charlie Hebdo Shooting: 12 Killed at Muhammad Cartoons Magazine in Paris." NBC News.N.p., n.d. Web. 30 Jan

An average American uses around 4 gallons of water per day. Of course, this water must come from somewhere, and unfortunately, this means some large sources of freshwater must be depleted. The United States, as a whole, must be more careful about how much water we use. As shown in the pictures of the Aral Sea (technically a lake) in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and, we are causing this to happen in the homes of people world-wide.

 Although slavery is not something people would believe to exist anymore, a new form of it has taken place: human trafficking. Human trafficking is in fact a modern type of slavery where people profit from the control and exploitation of others (Human Trafficking). This form of slavery affects everyone in the world because it is not just occurring in underdeveloped third-world countries, but even here in the United States. As a nation we must take action to stop the awful new sort of slavery because if we do not strive to protect human rights we will fall back into a pre-civil rights era once more. How could anyone allow children and women to get abused constantly and do nothing about it? The US needs to invest more money into helping stop these issues in other countries as well as our own.

Recently, on February 23, 2014, Russia became tired of Ukraine’s fight on the Crimea Peninsula, and seized control of the territory and government. Though Ukraine and Russia fought, the attacks over a 24 day period culminated with Crimea becoming allies with Russia. On March 18, the treaty between Crimea and Russia was finalized. Subsequently, Ukrainian troops were forced out by the Crimean protesters and Russian troops. Worldwide, many condemned Russia for its military invasion, and thought of Putin as a Hitler-esque man. Other countries worried other acts would cause instability of the region, possibly leading to a war between countries. The U.S saw that Russia’s power needed to be subdued after the Crimean peninsula attack. Somin, Ilya. "Don’t Forget about Russia’s Invasion and Occupation of Crimea." Washington Post.
