Energy Exists in Different Forms EQ: How can I describe the common forms of energy?
 Energy of POSITION or STORED energy  energy stored in the bonds of atoms Examples are  gasoline (petroleum)  FOOD  Natural gas  Propane  Coal.

How do we define Energy? The ability to do work & cause a change. Unit of measurement is the Joule ( J ) Examples of how we use energy: – cars move, bake.

10 TYPES OF ENERGY Translational, Rotational, Electromagnetic, Electrical, Chemical, Thermal, Sound, Elastic, Gravitational and Nuclear.
All forms of energy fall under 2 categories:  Potential  Kinetic.
ENERGY Forms Transformations Thermal. FORMS OF ENERGY Essential Question: How can you tell the difference between potential and kinetic energy?
Energy is said to be the ability to do work. That means the ability to make something happen. By “happen” it means to make things move or change condition.
 Is the ability to cause changes in matter.  Energy can transform, or change, from one form into another.  Energy is never used up.
Kinetic and Potential Energy have many forms. 1. Mechanical Energy - Energy associated with motion or position.

Fill out the Group work rubric! BE HONEST! (We will fill out the rest of our actual DO Now sheet next week!)

 I am the energy of movement!

 I am the energy that comes from the inside of atoms!

 I am made from the movement of particles that make up an object.

 I am the total energy from the interaction of multiple objects doing work.

 I am the energy that comes from vibrating objects, you can hear me.

 I am stored energy.

 I am the stored energy between an object and the Earth.

 I am the energy that is found in appliances like a computer.

 I am energy that travels in waves!

 I am the stored energy in an object that is compressed or stretched.

 I am the stored energy found in molecular bonds, like in food.

 There is only one example on earth that is close!
