Its History The parish of San Gines is a Catholic temple under the patronage of San Gines of Arles. The first references to the worship of San Gines of Arles in Madrid was in the IX century, but the origins of the parish can be found in a old hermitage mozarate that would have existed in these place in the end of the XIII century. The parish had three fires and they had to build three times. The parish is very famous of its arcs that are carpanales arcs and its style neo-plateresco. This parish was in the civil war, was as a headquartes and have some damage by bombing in the 40s and 50s. was build in the arenal, a kind of stream where was flow all the stream and sands that goes slides down streets.

Leyends, stories and anecdotes The church has a lot of stories but I said one called Where is the Virgin de los Remedios which became famous by a dissected cocodrile that is under the Virgin. The leyend recounts the story of Alonso of Montalbán,confiscation by the Catholic monarchs of his travel to America had an alligator attack of cocodriles while they went with their boat and they decided to went to the island Portobello when they were in land were a gigant cocodrile chased them.
