LIFE STYLE MODIFICATION AND PREVENTION OF OCCUPATIONAL LUNG DISEASES

Is the diagnosis and treatment of human disease caused in whole or in part by an individual’s work environment.

Is any disease caused in whole or in part by exposure in the work environment, usually excluding workplace trauma

Is defined as the application of environmental, behavioral, medical and motivational principles to management of lifestyle-related health problems in a clinical settings, It is an established branch of medicine where we discuss lifestyle's contribution to health in addition to non- pharmacological intervention in the treatment and management of lifestyle diseases.

 1-SILICOSIS a- simple silicosis, b-complicated silicosis  2-ASBESTOSE –RELATED DISEASES a- asbestosis b- neoplasm  3-ANTHRACOSIS

 4- BYSSINOSIS  5- SIDEROSIS  6- STANOSIS  7- BARITOSIS  8- OCCUPATIONAL ASTHMA  9- BERYLLIOSIS A- Acute berylliosis B- Chronic berylliosis

 10- OCCUPATIONAL PULMONARY NEOPLASM  11- COPD A- Cigarette smoking B- Occupational exposure

 1-SUBSTITUTION The replacement of a harmful agent with a relatively safe substance is sometimes possible.  2-AUTOMATION Isolation of certain dangerous operations in an enclosure with a view tp limit the exposure,

 3- suppression at the source. The dust of silica in foundries and of lead in storage battery, plants can be prevented from polluting the air by wetting the floors.  4- artificial and natural ventilation. Vapors, dusts, fumes and gases can be removed by exhaust pipes or the air of the work place may be diluted by improving the general ventilation.

 5-PERSONAL PROTECTION Protective equipment such as masks, respirators, gloves, overalls, goggles, shoes head and ear protective devices.  6-WORKERS PARTICIPATION. Health education with reference to the special hazards of the trade is of supreme importance.

 7-GENERAL CLEANILESS. THE SANITATION PF THE WORKPLACE SUCH AS SWEEPING OF FLOORS, AND REMOVAL OF THE REFUSE AND WASTE IS ALSO IMPORTAMT. 8.SUPERVISION. MAINTENANCE OF ONE OR ALL THE ABOVE PRICIPLES IS NECESSARY.

Tobacco smoking is the practice of burning tobacco and inhaling the smoke (consisting of particle and gaseous phases). (A more broad definition may include simply taking tobacco smoke into the mouth, and then releasing it, as is done by some with tobacco pipes and cigars.)

Smoking cessation, referred to as "quitting", is the action leading towards abstinence of tobacco smoking. Methods of "quitting" include cold turkey, nicotine replacement therapy, antidepressants, hypnosis, self-help, and support groups.
