Programme : What is money? Is it libre? Do we need money to trade? CommunityForge’s role What’s next for CForge? Be a part!

Money is a proprietary system Cash is 5%, 95% digital Who distributes it? Source code please? What are the costs to community?to solidarity? Is it libre ? What is money ?

GNU | the users (community) have the freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the system.

Richard Stallman | These freedoms are vitally important. They are essential, not just for the individual users' sake, but for society as a whole because they promote social solidarity—that is, sharing and cooperation.

Does money “promote sharing and cooperation”? money is scarce forces us to compete for it controlled by few people with a lot of it not managed for the common good... human & natural resources are abundant

Do we need money to interact?

Currency is different from money It can be a digital contract, a handshake, an agreement It should not be speculative It should not be hoarded It should flow freely We need a digital means of exchange

Bernard Lietaer | a community is a group of people who honor each other's gifts, who can trust that their gifts will be reciprocated some day, in some way. Most communities have lost that trust, because we compete for scarce money A transparent accounting system builds trust Circulating wealth makes us all richer We all need a community currency

Design, develop, distribute software to build and manage small-scale Citizen2Citizen exchanges with participants 100 hosted economies on our servers 400 hosted economies on other servers 500 Drupal distribution downloads 8000 Drupal module downloads with 400 members CForge is a community
