Priority: 4. Promote transnational synergies in sustainable urban and regional development. Objective: 4.1. Pool resources and skills in the field of sustainable urban and rural development.

Context The Organic Production in the geographical area of the Atlantic Area has had a breakthrough in recent years. The modification of the current CAP is expected to benefit organic production. Due to the new scenario for organic production that shows an upward trend, various initiatives have emerged in order to develop proactive dissemination strategies in which local or county stakeholders would be involved. On the other hand, the proliferation of isolated dissemination initiatives do not enable to make the most of the resources available and of the good practices already consolidated as well as share knowledge and results. Justify of the proposal The dissemination strategy for organic production will be a tool capable of collecting, extending and disseminating all the experience accumulated and the value added generated in recent years in the Atlantic Area. Therefore, the sector would be consolidated by developing all the potential of organic production concerning economic, social and environmental aspects. This proactive strategy will involve stakeholders and interest groups in the development of organic farming so as to coordinate and improve the dissemination activities for organic production developed by public or private entities.

Main and specific objectives Main Objective: to create a dissemination strategy for organic production beyond regional level by promoting transnational synergies for sustainable development in the whole Atlantic area Specific objectives: - To identify good innovative practices related to the dissemination of organic farming in the Atlantic Area. - To transfer knowledge and innovation between regions by improving capabilities in the field of sustainable urban and rural development. - To create a network of stakeholders aimed at disseminating organic farming in the Atlantic area. - To identify ways to preserve and promote the plant genetic natural heritage through organic farming Expected results - A diagnostic study of the situation of the dissemination of organic production in the regions - A catalogue of actions for the dissemination of organic farming in the Atlantic area - A network of stakeholders responsible for the dissemination of organic farming

Innovative aspects of the project The project suggests a transnational proactive strategy in the Atlantic area which aims to involve those stakeholders and interest groups involved in the development of organic farming in order to coordinate and improve the dissemination activities for organic production developed by public or private entities. It is a pioneering initiative that tries to combine efforts and experiences in order to optimise the results of the dissemination in the geographical scope of the project.
