Failure to Act ASCE series on state of infrastructure Transportation, Electric Utility, Water/ Wastewater, and Airports/Seaports Continued underfunding will cause significant damage to economy Loss of 876,000 jobs and suppress GDP growth by $897 BIL by 2020 ASCE calls for $94 BIL more per year Save more than 1 million high-skill jobs and more than 2 billion hours of travel time

FHWA Long-Term Bridge Performance Program (LTBP) 20-year, federally funded program Goal to better understand and improve bridge performance and extend longevity Life-cycle cost also highlighted 100-Year Bridge Mentality Initial study pinpointed 20 areas of improvement – focusing on 2 to start Bridge deck performance (rebar) Coatings for steel superstructure to promote longevity
