College Entrance Exams  The SAT Reasoning Test Reasoning Test There will be things on the test you do not know. There will be things on the test you do not know. This test is intended to show how well you can solve problems and reason through things. This test is intended to show how well you can solve problems and reason through things. There will still be some things you will not know, though! Test more areas – English, math, reading, and science Some people do better on the ACT than on the SAT

Both tests can be used for college admissions! All 4-year colleges in the state of North Carolina require a score on the SAT or the ACT – except for Wake Forest University!

Each exam has a pre-test  The PSAT = the pre-test for the SAT Sophomores took the PSAT in October Sophomores took the PSAT in October  The PLAN = the pre-test for the ACT Sophomores will take the PLAN on December 6th Sophomores will take the PLAN on December 6th

Why take the PLAN? The PLAN Tests in English, math, reading, and writing, just like the ACT – shows you what skills and knowledge are required to succeed in college Contains a career interest inventory that can help you find the best career choices for you Shows you where you might need extra help or additional courses to get ready for the ACT

Other benefits of the PLAN  Gives you an estimated ACT score  Connects you to more information about college and financial aid  Students who take the PLAN are more likely to be ready for college  Students who take the PLAN score higher on the ACT than those who do not.  Lets you know if you are on track for college
