It allows to take advantage of economies of scale. It avoids the duplication of R&D expenditure and favors the exchange of knowledge. It facilitates the link between basic R&D and applied R&D, more devoted to the market. Synergies and complementarities between research entities and firms (qualified employees, resources for research, …).
