Point of Care Risk Assessment

Assessing Your Risk of Exposure Risk Identification – the risk is Influenza infection Risk Assessment – what are activities or tasks that you do that might bring you into contact with Influenza? Think about the modes of transmission

Assessing Your Risk of Exposure To determine what type of PPE you should be using, ask yourself 3 questions: 1. Where are my opportunities for exposure to H1N1?

2. What tasks put me at most risk? From whom?

3. Where am I performing my task(s)? Are there other people with influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms present?

Determine Your Risk - Choosing Appropriate PPE No Contact – wash your hands Exposure to suspected or confirmed H1N1 persons – gown, gloves, and respiratory protection (surgical mask or N95 +/- face shield as indicated by PCRA) AGMP Direct Care - gown, gloves, eye protection and N95 mask
