SERIETEKET The Swedish comics library, the only institution of its kind in Sweden

Serieteket Year One Founded in November 1996 by Kristiina Kolehmainen and Elisabet Andersson First located on a small side street on Stockholm’s Southern island Part of the Stockholm Public Library System

Inspirations Centre National de La Bande Dessinée et de l’Image in Angoulême, France Belgian Comic Strip Center in Brussels, Belgium The collection at the Municipal Library of Lausanne, Schweiz

In the Beginning Serieteket launched a new way of organizing its collections by genre instead of the Swedish classification system. Serieteket participated in a youth employment programme. 17 youths in 3 years

Phase Two In October 1999 Serieteket moves to Kulturhuset in central Stockholm. Greatly improved location. Better exhibition spaces. We start working with ”Fanzine Heaven” that later became ”Small Press Expo”.
