T HE YOUNG WINEMAKERS. E ACH OF US HAS BROUGHT A CLUSTER OF GRAPES. W E HAVE A HARD JOB : TO TURN GRAPES INTO WINE

F IRST WE SEPARATE THE BERRIES FROM THE STEMS.

W E BEGIN TO PRESS THE GRAPES WITH OUR HANDS O UR HANDS ARE ALL STICKY AND SMELL LIKE GRAPE JUICE. W E ARE HAVING FUN !!!!

T HE PRESSED JUICE IS VIOLET, DARK, HOT, STICKY. W E TASTED : IT ’ S SWEET AND JUICY. T HE SCENT IS PLEASANT.

W E PUT THE JUICE, SKINS AND PIPS IN A TRANSPARENT POT …. …. A ND L ET ' S WAIT A FEW DAYS

A FTER 4 DAYS T ODAY IN CLASS WE HAVE FOUND A VERY STRONG SMELL.

THE SKINS AND SEEDS ROSE ALL UP. T HE LIQUID IS ALWAYS PURPLE AND TURBID ; ON THE BOTTOM OF THE POT IT IS DEPOSITED A DENSER MATERIAL : THE SCUM

W E SEPARATE THE JUICE FROM THE SKINS SQUEEZING WELL WITH OUR HANDS … … HOW BEAUTIFUL !!! IT IS GREAT

I N THE POT THERE IS NOW ONLY A TURBID AND SOUR JUICE

A FTER 13 DAYS … THE MUST T HIRTEEN DAYS HAVE PASSED SINCE WE MADE THE HARVEST. I N CLASS THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF WINE SEEMS TO BE IN THE CELLAR. D URING THESE DAYS WE HAVE SEEN SO MANY BUBBLES RISE TO THE SURFACE AND FORMED A LAYER OF WHITE FOAM. W HILE THE BOTTOM OF THE POT THERE IS ALSO GROWING A LAYER OF SCUM.

T HE TEACHER WITH THE STRAINER AND FUNNEL POURED THE JUICE IN A BOTTLE. IN THIS PERIOD WILL CONTINUE FERMENTATION AND SOME MICROORGANISMS CALLED SACCHAROMYCES CONVERT SUGAR INTO ALCOHOL. T HE FERMENTATION WILL LAST A FEW MORE DAYS, BECAUSE AS THE SAYING GOES : "A S AN M ARTINO OGNI MOSTO DIVENTA VINO."

H ERE IS THE LABEL THAT WE CREATED FOR OUR BOTTLES OF WINE. T HE NAME FOR THE WINE WE CHOSE AFTER A DEMOCRATIC VOTE AMONG THREE NAMES WE HAD THOUGHT : R ODARCINCIN, U VINOTTO, U BRIACHIN Grape Harvest 2015

I NGREDIENTS 1 READY-MADE PIZZA BASE TOMATO SAUCE 1 TABLESPOON OF OLIVE OIL 1 ONION (CHOPPED) 400g TIN OF CHOPPED TOMATOES MIXED HERBS SALT AND BLACK PEPPER TOPPINGS GRATED CHEESE MUSHROOMS (SLICED) BLACK OLIVES

PEEL AND CHOP THE ONION SLICE THE MUSHROOMS

HEAT THE OLIVE OIL A FRYING PAN. ADD THE CHOPPED ONION WITH SOME SALT AND PEPPER AND FRY GENTLY.

ADD THE TOMATOES, HERBS, SALT AND PEPPER AND MIX IT ALL TOGETHER.

POUR THE TOMATO MIXTURE INTO A SAUCEPAN AND COOK IT FOR 10 MINUTES. IT MUSTN’T BOIL. SPREAD THE SAUCE OVER THE PIZZA BASE.

SPRINKLE WITH THE GRATED CHEESE, MUSHROOMS AND OLIVES.

HEAT THE OVEN TO 230°C. PUT THE PIZZA IN THE OVEN AND BAKE FOR MINUTES. OR WOOD OVEN

WHEN IT IS READY AND THE CHEESE HAS MELTED, SERVE IMMEDIATELY.
