SQA CfE Team Came together in August 2009 Headed by Roddy Gillespie Eight development teams based on curriculum areas plus Literacy and Numeracy Each with a Qualifications Development Manager, QDCs (consultants) and a QDO (officer)

National 5 key features Replace Standard Grade (Credit) and Intermediate 2 Courses are unit based Graded course award based on achieving units, coursework assessment and external assessment by SQA – SQA will quality assure the assessments To be available from session 2013/14

RME Curriculum Area The RME Curriculum Area has two sets of Experiences and Outcomes: –Religious and moral education –Religious education in Roman Catholic schools Future courses at National 4 and 5 will build on knowledge, skills, attitudes and aptitudes established 3-15

RME Curriculum Area Current national qualifications include: –Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies. –Religious Studies The SQA team responsible for the development of RME in the senior phase is currently engaging with practitioners and other bodies on suitable qualifications at National 4 and 5.

Existing qualifications Standard Grade Foundation to go Access 3 and Higher to be retained as ‘points of stability’ Revision of existing qualifications at Access, Higher and Advanced Higher to ensure they are consistent with CfE developments and to provide good progression
