© Herts for Learning Ltd What is the story?

© Herts for Learning Ltd Preliminary Task Discuss and write down on a post-it: a)What technologies you use already. b)What benefits to students it has had in/out the classroom. c)Any drawbacks or problems encountered.

© Herts for Learning Ltd What’s the Plan? Objective To enable participants to familiarise themselves with some of the latest technologies that can be used to promote Teaching & Learning in the classroom. Outcomes To have used Data Logging with a variety of sensors To have built or edited a WIKI To have constructed or viewed Blog(s) To have produced a Podcast To have considered using custom motion paths in PowerPoint

© Herts for Learning Ltd Wikis and VLEs A Wiki can allow you and your whole class to collaborate on a project towards a common aim. Examples… There are loads of good sites to use to create a Wiki. One of the best is PBWorks.comPBWorks.com Feel free to edit the above site and add a new page each, to share your resources and teaching tips. All you need to do is open an account to edit – use your school . Safety first! Use a VLE in preference to a WIKI if you can.

© Herts for Learning Ltd Data Logging Instructions are provided. Use a range of sensors to generate data sets and consider how this could be used in class, both for demonstration and whole-class purposes.

© Herts for Learning Ltd Podcasts A Podcast is usually an audio clip that can be accessed via the web and can be downloaded onto a mp4 player. These are simple to produce using free software such as Audacity.Audacity. Very useful for students to produce their own revision material. Can also produce a sound track for a movie...

© Herts for Learning Ltd Videos Homemade videos can be a very useful tool to support the learning inside and outside of the classroom. They can be produced very simply with a cheap digital camera (e.g. the Flip Cams that arrived in your school last year!) and editing software such as MovieMaker

© Herts for Learning Ltd Blogging A blog (is short for web log) and is a perfect vehicle for communicating with students out of the classroom, by providing materials that can be used to continue T and L. A simple program to use is Blogger, which is free (owned by Google). Example Instructions can be found at, e= e=
