Agenda Overview: presenting data in graphical form Types of graphs  Bar charts, pie charts, scatter plots Essential characteristics of good graphs  Titles, axis labels, ticks, legends  Plotting experimental and calculated values Tabulating and graphing data in Excel

Types of Data Data values can be either numeric or character Numeric data may be either continuous or categorical Character data are categorical

Types of Graphs Scatter plots are used when all variables being plotted are numeric and continuous Bar charts and pie charts are examples of graph types in which at least one of the variables is categorical

Adding Column Labels 1.Click on Category (X) Axis Labels 2. Select Label Set 4. Click Next 3. Click Icon to Return

Enter the titles and then click finish
