Your child will be participating in How parents can help this month: Counselor Corner: UIL News: Students have been preparing for the upcoming Writing UIL meet that will be held at Y.E.S. on November 12th. Students participating in Art Smart and Speaking Prelims will travel to Pawnee on December 1st. All other events will be held in Fall City on December 8th. As we finalize teams, permission forms with more information will be sent home. We appreciate Mrs. Knobles for being our UIL Coordinator. Thank you Mrs. Knobles!!! BENCHMARK TESTING: In order to help prepare our students for STAAR, we will have benchmark testing as follows: Monday, November 16th 5th grade READING  Tuesday, November 17th 4th grade WRITING 5th grade MATH   Wednesday, November 18th 3rd & 4th grade MATH  Thursday, November 19th 3rd & 4th grade READING  Friday, November 20th 5th grade SCIENCE Y.E.S. is asking for your help with the following reminders to help us better prepare for testing days: *Please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest. *Wish your child good luck and encourage him/her to do their best on their test. *Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast at home if they do not eat at the cafeteria. *Make sure your child is at school by 7:55! Thank you Y.E.S. parents for your continued support in the education of our children! The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) will be administered this Spring 2016. For elementary, the STAAR measures the statewide curriculum in Reading at Grades 3-5; Writing at Grade 4; Mathematics at Grades 3-5; and Science at Grade 5.  Your child will be participating in the following STAAR testing: Tuesday, March 29th 4th grade WRITING 5th grade MATH  Wednesday, March 30th 5th grade READING   Monday, May 9th 3rd & 4th grade MATH 5th grade MATH retest  Tuesday, May 10th 3rd & 4th grade READING 5th grade READING retest  Wednesday, May 11th 5th grade SCIENCE **Due to the importance of the STAAR test, please make sure there are no scheduled appointments or no early pick-ups on these days. Students do have the tendency to rush when they know they will be picked up early.
