Deans and Department Chairs’ Retreat July 30, 2008 Mississippi e-center at Jackson State University

 SAILS is a standardized multiple choice test that is used to evaluate basic knowledge about a variety of information literacy (IL) skills  SAILS results in data reports that clearly describe performance of groups of students  SAILS provides data for both internal and external benchmarking  Project SAILS is an initiative of Kent State University in partnership with the Association of Research Libraries (ARL)

As defined by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL): “information literacy is a set of abilities that require individuals to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information.”
