JOB TASKS  Deliver Anesthesia to patients before, during, and/or after a medical procedure  Provide and maintain life support and airway management and help prepare patients for emergency surgery.  Prescribe medications for patients after surgery  Explain to patients about an upcoming medical procedure  Take vital signs  Coordinate and direct work of nurses, medical technicians, and other health care providers.  Teach students or staff members Anesthesiology practices

JOB EXPECTATIONS  Stressful work days but flexible hours  Up to 12 hour long work days plus being “on call” for 24 hours in case of emergencies  Typically receive several weeks of paid vacation time per year and they aren’t expected to be accessible on their days off.  Work in hospitals, dentist offices, or clinics  High risk of causing medical accidents and being sued for malpractice
