Stokeinteignhead Primary School Devon, United Kingdom Learning to Learn

About our School 109 children on roll 4 classes Set in a rural environment in Devon, South West England Learning to learn is an important part of our development work over the next two years.

Where we are

Learning to Learn Teachers have talked about and agreed “What makes a good learner” We have shared “What makes a Good Learner” with the children. Teaching assistants are talking to the children about what makes a good learner. Classes are keeping a learning log to share what they have learnt each week.

What makes a good learner. To be a good learner I must always try to … I am motivated and ready to learn at every opportunity. I am willing to face a challenge. I listen carefully and work well – with others and on my own. I think carefully and use the skills and knowledge I already have. I understand what I have learnt and I know my next target.

What is a learning talk? Feedback from children Finding out what helps children to learn. Asking children what works for them and what doesn’t. Non threatening for teachers. Dialogue to enable us all to be even better teachers.

Questions Asked??? What learning do you enjoy most in school? If you are stuck with your learning what is the first thing you do to get help? What is there in your classroom that helps you learn? How do adults in school help you learn? How do other children help you learn? How could we make learning even better at our school?

Results Sometimes the results can be surprising!
