Both are free organization tools for research reference that extract bibliographical information from docs on web Zotero ( Available as a 1) browser plug-in, 2) program, and 3) online platform via Zotero web site Mendeley ( Available as a 1) program and 2) online platform via Mendeley web site

Zotero: Pulling Bibliographic Info Citation Manager (might have to turn it on!) Look for “capture icon” Pulls bibliographic info Retrieve metadata from PDFs previously downloaded
Zotero: Citations and Bibliography DON’T DO: Edit -> Copy citation/bibliography Right click on item, click create citation/bibliography Cannot do in-text citations this way, however Copy & paste Microsoft Word Add-on should be automatic icons

Mendeley as a Program
Mendeley: Pulling Bibliographic Info Pulling Bibliographic Info Web Importer Have to put it in your bookmarks bar manually Cannot save PDFs If you download a PDF, import into Mendeley, and then move the location of the PDF, Mendeley will not know where to find it “Watching” a Folder When you watch a folder, Mendeley will automatically import everything Powerful with file organizer enabled Will you let it spy on your downloads folder for PDFs?
Mendeley: Citations Importing bibliography Click on “view,” choose citation style Right-click on article, choose “copy as,” and formatted citation. Copy & paste Plugin for Microsoft Word Plugin: “Cite-O-Matic” Have to install (click on tools) look under “References”
