5 How to Boost Your Metabolism: Metabolism is the process by which your body makes and uses energy, or calories, for everything from the cellular absorption of nutrients to running a marathon.

6 ViVa Weight Loss Challenge Your Basal Metabolic Rate is the number of calories you'd burn if you stayed in bed all day!

7 ViVa Weight Loss Challenge Depriving yourself of food in hopes of losing weight also decreases your BMR, a foil to your intentions. Muscle is the single most important predictor of how well you metabolise your food, and how well you burn calories and body fat.

8 ViVa Weight Loss Challenge Get Active: Unless we perform regular strength exercises, we lose approximately ½ kilo of muscle every year after the age of 25. The idea is to get up and get active.
