Conifer Cast New features 64bit version Improvements in postprocessing large results Compressed flsgrf.dat result file format Meshing reworked Customizable color scales Postprocessing dialog reworked F-packing options

64 bit version With Conifer Cast fully 64 bit version will be available Using 64 bit version will allow making efficient use of RAM memories larger than 4GB 32 bit Conifer Cast Application max 3GB 32 bit Windows 32 bit FLOW-3D Solver Process max 3GB System 1GB 32 bit Conifer Cast Application max 4GB 64 bit Windows 32 bit FLOW-3D Solver Process max 4GB 64 bit Conifer Cast Application max 128GB 64 bit Windows 64 bit FLOW-3D Solver Process max 128GB System

Memory Postprocessing large results During postprocessing only fraction of the result data is actually needed for drawing the view Starting from Conifer Cast version when running short of memory the Conifer Cast will swap the unnecessary data to disk thus saving memory This allows postprocessing MUCH larger result files than before Removes the limitation of 32bit Conifer Cast that prevented postprocessing result files whose compressed size exceeded 4GB Result Variable 1 Result Variable 2 Result Variable 3 Result Variable 4 Result Variable 1 Result Variable 2 Result Variable 3 Result Variable 4 Memory Disk Before Now

Compressed result file format New option of using compressed result data file format has been added Use of compression will slow down simulation slightly Using compression introduces approximately 90% savings in the work file size Compression is selected in Advanced Options Dialog In Conifer Cast compression is by default ON FLOW-3D Conifer Cast flsgrf.dat FLOW-3D Conifer Cast gzip compreesion flsgrf.dat Before Now

Meshing reworked 1/9 The meshing has been reworked New functionality: - Creating new mesh blocks by splitting them - Selecting wether to draw other mesh blocks - Visualization improvements - Use of transparent STLs

Meshing reworked 2/9 CREATING A NEW GRIDLINE 1) Select a layer between gridlines from the list. This layer will be splitted into two by the new gridline. 2) Click 'New gridline' button

Meshing reworked 3/9... 3) New gridline will appear on the list. The new gridline is shown on the screen with white color.

Meshing reworked 4/9 MOVING A GRIDLINE 1) Select a gridline from the list 2) Selected gridline is show with white color on the screen 3) Move the gridline by either a) Pressing +/- buttons b) Moving the slider or c) Type in the gridline coordinate

Meshing reworked 5/9 CHANGING MESH ACCURACY 1) Select a layer between gridlines from the list 2) Change the number of cells by either a) Pressing +/- buttons b) Moving the slider c) Typing in number of cells for the layer

Meshing reworked 6/9 SPLITTING MESH BLOCK 1) Select a grid line 2) Click 'Split mesh block' The old mesh block has now been split into two. This feature is not available in gravity version.

Meshing reworked 7/9 VIEWING MESH BLOCKS Selected mesh block is shown as cyan/white Other mesh blocks are shown in light brown Clicking 'Draw other mesh blocks' allows hiding other mesh block'

Meshing reworked 8/9 IMPORTING GRIDLINES Clicking 'Import gridlines' allows importing explicit gridlines from another mesh block This is usefull when using embedded mesh blocks for increased mesh accuracy at given area in the mesh This helps matching the gridlines in the nested mesh block to the gridlines of the main mesh. Matching gridlines helps in modeling complex geometry problems to minimize block to block area and volume errors.

Meshing reworked 9/9 TRANSPARENT STLs The toolbar now contains a new button which makes STL's transparent In meshing making STL transparent allows looking inside the STL This can be very usefull when meshing systems where mould is modeled as STL file

Material Classification 1/3 Materials are divided in the classes Material classes form a tree structure Helps maintaining large material databases

Material Classification 2/3

Material Classification 3/3

Custom Materials For mould materials it is possible to have a customized material Custom material is based on a material in materiald database but can have exceptions in its properties Custom material is simulation specific. Any changes to custom material are not propagated to the material database.

Customizable Color Scales In Conifer Cast it is possible to have a customized color scales in postprocessing. This is what the default color scale looks like

Customizable Color Scales New menu entry 'Edit color scale' has been added to 'View' menu

Customizable Color Scales Color scale edit dialog allows Modifying current color scale Saving color scale in a file Loading color scale from a file Resetting color scale back to default

Reworked postprocessing dialog Postprocessing dialog has been redesigned By default only most commonly used operations are visible Clicking More/Less will toggle the visibility of advanced options

Reworked postprocessing dialog New option 'Tilt pour rotation effect' has been added. It is used for selecting wether the view is rotated according to tilt angle or not. New option 'Vector coloring' has been added. It is used for selecting wether vector arrows are colored or not.

F-packing related numeric options Options for configuring f-packing have been added F-packing controls the behavior of free surface in case of splashing
