Education Requirements for Standard Entry- Level Position Students looking to become a mechanical engineer will almost always need to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in an ABET accredited program. All 50 states require an engineer to receive licensing in order to offer their services to the public. Important qualities include creativity, listening skills, math skills, mechanical skills, and problem solving skills.
