The world says differently.. Blessed are the Poor in Spirit “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3 The world says differently..

Poor in spirit Poor – Be without and know it Be in need and realize it Humble opinion of oneself Aware that we are sinners “Blessed are the ones who know that spiritually they are paupers, for heaven’s kingdom is theirs”

Pride involved in fall of Man – Gen.3 Thought he knew what was best Humility to return to God Humble our self spiritually “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.” 1 Cor. 3:18

James 4:10 “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” The less you know, the more you think you know. The more you know, the less you think you know.

A humble man is teachable. “O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” Jer.10:23 A humble man is teachable. “Thou art the potter, I am the clay”

What Do you see ?

Theirs is the kingdom of heaven “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3 The Kingdom is the Church Matt. 16:18-19

Pentecost Acts 2 Fulfilled Matt. 16:18-19 “poor in spirit” - “what shall we do?” Lord added to the church Reward for those poor in spirit Those who enter the kingdom are those who are “poor in spirit”

Theirs is the kingdom of heaven What about the Proud ? Cursed - Not Blessed Theirs is not the kingdom Woes to the self-righteous Proverbs 16:18 Matthew 23
