LOGO Spectroscopic Determination of Some Trace Elements as Pollutants in Fruit Dates Palm and Agricultural Soils at Zulfi Province By : Nawal Mahgoub Suleman Zilfi faculty of education -Chemistry departement Research Problem مشكلة البحث Fruits are an integral part of human diet as they supply vitamins and minerals, the important constituents essential for human health [1 he tree is valued mainly for its fruits (date) as well as for its ornamental value almost in every garden, square and avenue in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has the world's second largest producer of dates. Zulfi province with considerable agricultural potential in soil fertility and abundant water and famous for its abundant vegetation and in the introduction to that date as the spread of Palm. Emission of heavy metals from the industries and vehicles may result in the deposition of such metals on the surface of the fruits and vegetables Since, these heavy metals might seriously damage human health e.g., decrease in immunological defense, neurological. For these reasons we want to determine some trace elements as pollutants in fruit dates palm and agricultural soils at Zulfi Province by using ICP-MS spectrophotometer which represents an analytical tool with high precision. References المراجع The area of study, The date palm farms found at Zilfi Province, will be surfed during July taking 10 samples of soil from these farms randomly. Also 10 samples of date palm fruit(fully ripe, stage of Tamr ) will be collected from the same farms. The soil swill be collected and sieved through 202 nm sieve, and will be stored in plastic bags. (ICP-MS )spectrophotometers will be used to determine the concentrations of some trace elements (Cd, As, Ni,Pb,etc….) that may be found in the soil. The date samples were divided into two groups. The first group was washed with deionized water to clean dust and deposited substances on fruit for 10 min while the second group was not washed. All samples air dried and then oven dried at 70°C for 48 h to achieve constant mass, milled and sieved. 1 g milled powder of each samples was weighed and after combusting in electrical furnace, were digested with 10 ml 2 N HCl.The metal concentrations were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS) [27]. All reagents are of analytical grade and were checked for possible trace metal contamination. Saudi Arabia has the world's second largest producer of dates. In the area of study,Zulfi province over 8000 total farm output of dates over 7360 tones and more than 2 million Palm trees. Emission of heavy metals from the industries and vehicles may result in the deposition of such metals on the surface of the fruits and vegetables Since, these heavy metals might seriously damage human health e.g., decrease in immunological defense, neurological disorders, intrauterine growth retardation, For these reasons we want to determine some trace elements as pollutants in fruit dates palm and agricultural soils at Zulfi Province by using ICP-MS spectrophotometer. The area of study, The date palm farms found at Zilfi Province, will be surfed during July taking 10 samples of soil from these farms randomly. Also 10 samples of date palm fruit(ully ripe, stage of Tamr ) will be collected from the same farms. (ICP-MS )spectrophotometers will be used to determine the concentrations of some trace elements (Cd, As, Ni,etc….) in both soil and dates(washed and unwashed). Conclusions الخلاصة Purpose الهدف 1/Studying of the physical properties of some date palm farms soils at Zilfi province. 2/Determination of some trace element like Cd,As, Pb,Ni, etc …..in this soil using inductively couple plasma mass spectrophotometer (ICP-MS) 3/Determination of the same trace elements in the date palm found in the same farms before and after washing of the fruit. 4/ The relationship can be inferred is that the trace elements of dates came from contaminated soil or from polluted air surrounding farms. 5/Qualification of Saudi teaching assistants in chemistry department, at Zilfi Faculty Of Education Dates are very rich in nutritive components,. carbohydrates, fats, minerals, protein, vitamins and dietary fibers [2,].. Crops grown on such soils can accumulate a significant amount of heavy metals in different tissues [3-5].Emission of heavy metals from the industries and vehicles may result in the deposition of such metals on the surface of the fruits and vegetables and contaminate them [6]. Since, these heavy metals might seriously damage human health e.g., decrease in immunological defense, neurological disorders, intrauterine growth retardation, impaired psycho-social behavior, disabilities associated with malnutrition and a high prevalence of upper gastrointestinal cancer [7].hence, regular survey and monitoring programs of heavy metal contamination in food stuff were mainly centered for decades in developed countries [8].Leaves of roadside plants as bioindicator of traffic related lead pollution during different seasons in Sargodha, Pakistan have been studied [9]. Heavy metals in the fruit of date palm growing at different locations of Riyadh [10], also mineral Ion Content of date palm [11,12] was determined at different places. Growth And heavy metals uptake by date palm grown in mono-and dual culture in heavy metals contaminated soil was determined using AAS [13]. Importance of date palms as a source of nutrition at Iraq was studied [14]. Fruit quality, nutritional value and yield of Zaghloul dates by the application of organic and/or mineral fertilizers was improved [15]. Gaseous and Particulate Pollutants during Combustion of Date Palm Wastes for Energy Recovery was measured [16]. A comparative study between mechanical and manual pollination in two premier Saudi Arabian date palm cultivars was done [17]. Literature Review الادبيات
