Why did we proceed with the DDA Project ? YBP announced partnership with ebrary for DDA support (Spring 2011). New BCC Location at the Meadowlands location. Library would be opening in Spring BCC students want to do research anywhere at any time. Many distance education courses. All BCC users would have a larger selection of e-books. Vale/NJ ACRL/NJLA CUS Conference January 4, 2013

Fund: $5000 E-book provider: ebrary Record provider: YBP Subject: Social Science Content level: General academic Publication date: current year 2011: weekly load Price cap: $50 per title Vale/NJ ACRL/NJLA CUS Conference January 4, 2013

Initial profile was too narrow Subject (social science, current year, price ($50). The number of DDA titles was too small to evaluate project. DDA workflow was very new In order to make it work, we worked closely with YBP and Ebrary. Changes to the profile Vale/NJ ACRL/NJLA CUS Conference January 4, 2013

Profile (Revised) Fund: $ $3000 Subject: all subject areas Price Cap: $200/per e-book Publication date: Last 5 years Retro load (6500 records) & weekly loads Vale/NJ ACRL/NJLA CUS Conference January 4, 2013

Percentage of YBP books simultaneously available in e-book format 47% Percentage of YBP e-books available in DDA as of September % 100%

Issue 1: How to avoid duplicates with print versions and purchased e- book records we already own? YBP de-duped titles against all our prior purchases. ISBNs of our e-books from other resources were submitted to avoid duplication of titles. De-Dup Issue 2: “Multiple volumes set” Marc record only links to one volume We removed problem records in retro load. New records can be adjusted as they are received Multi- volume Vale/NJ ACRL/NJLA CUS Conference January 4, 2013
