NOTES FOR QUIZ: MULTIPLE CHOICE Indus Valley First civilization, known for architecture with plumbing and no windows to keep out heat, developed cities by rivers for farming, trade and travel Aryan Culture Known for Indo-European language group, changed from nomads to farming community, developed Sanskrit(first written language) and wrote Vedas which were the sacred texts that Hinduism is based upon. Mauryan Culture: First Indian Empire under Chandra Gupta and Ashoka, known for their postal system, hospitals, roadways and rest stops. Gupta Culture Increased power by expanding into Northern India, entered “Golden Age”, consolidated all kingdoms under 1 ruler, invented zero and infinity that is still used for modern technology.
