How To Draw a Comic Strip

Things You'll Need paper pencil eraser black pen ruler

Develop An Idea and your characters Develop your characters and practice drawing them in different situations. Make sure that each has specific signature features, so that it's easy to tell who is who.

Make a quick sketch of your strip Decide what is going to happen for 4 panels. Block in where the text will go, and what the characters will be doing.

Caption and dialogue Draw the speech bubbles (or just leave space for text), characters, and any background of the scenes with pencil. Stick figures and try to decide what the elements of each image will be.

Inking the Characters Correct until you are happy with your drawing. Redraw with black pen.

Background

Erasing the Pencil Lines When the ink is completely dry, run an eraser over your comic to clean up the paper and remove any remaining pencil marks.
