Discussion Questions  How does the diffusion of pop culture influence perceptions of beauty around the world?  Do you think pop culture (media, TV, music, etc.) influences what we perceive to be beautiful in the US? Why or why not?  How does folk culture influence trends in fashion and beauty? How does folk culture influence what is trendy? (relook at pics)

Exit Slip-Write only the link on a separate paper.  Main Idea: The diffusion of pop culture has a negative influence on perceptions of beauty.  Evidence: Most importantly, Erica Jin explained her experiences teaching in a school in South Korea and she said, “A colleague explained that many of the tenth grade girls got "sang-ka-puhl-soosuhl" or plastic surgery, during the school's summer break. In Gangnam, I learned, this was a rite of passage. Most girls elected for double-eyelid surgery, which made the eyes bigger and more “Western.”  Link: ????? (remember a transition.
