10 Oxen Oxen (singular ox) are cattle trained as draft animals. They are adult, castrated males. Oxen are used for plowing, transport, hauling cargo, threshing grain by trampling, powering machines for grinding grain, irrigation or other purposes, and drawing carts and wagons.
