Background Founded in April 2006 This followed a period of active planning and collaboration with professional colleagues from over 17 countries in Europe as well as with the Executive Council of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) The establishment of the European Society for Trauma and Dissociation (ESTD) was strongly supported by the ISSTD with whom we have close ties.

Aims of the ESTD To promote an increase in the knowledge of Trauma, Dissociation and all disorders related to chronic traumatization. To provide professional and public education about dissociation, trauma and trauma related disorders. To support communication and cooperation among clinicians and other professionals in the field of dissociation and trauma. To stimulate national and international research projects. To provide knowledge and education specifically to those countries in Europe who do not have easy access in this field.

Membership Full Membership of ESTD is open to –residents of any country who are professionally occupied with diagnosis, treatment, research or teaching in the field of (chronic) trauma, dissociation and disorders related to chronic traumatization –or officially represent an organization in the above mentioned field. Student Membership is open to –above residents who are still in training and have been issued a certificate of registration with a university or college of higher education.

Membership Advantages Access to ESTD members-only site Reduced registration fees for several ESTD sponsored conferences, workshops and seminars. You will also get a reduced fee for membership of the ISSTD (International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation). By joining ESTD, you will also contribute to and support the spread of knowledge and understanding of trauma and trauma treatment and interventions in Europe.
