If You Believe You Can Achieve (3000) Achieve (Empower) 3000 Reading Competition

Goals for Achieve Reading Competition School-wide goal = 50 articles per student by end of year. Grade-level goals = Grade levels meet goal of 17 articles every 6 weeks will be recognized. Advisory goal = Advisory class that has the most accumulated articles at the end of the 6 weeks will be recognized. Individual Students = The top 5 students who have shown the most Lexile growth will be recognized at the end of the year.

Advisory Rooms Guidelines Students will read Achieve articles on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students will complete a tracker for article. This tracker will assist in an Advisory grade. Students will need to complete a total of 17 articles every 6 weeks.

Advisory Rooms Expectations At least twice a week students will engage in Achieve 3000 during advisory. Students can read articles during SSR time but it’s not mandatory if students are currently reading chapter books. Students must read FOR TEN MINUTES before answering activity questions.

Achieve Reading Competition PRIZES Advisory with the highest accumulated articles at the end of 6 weeks = Pizza or Ice Cream Party Grade Level that meets the goal of 17 articles per student every 6 weeks = Free dress for THE WEEK. EVERY STUDENT IN THE GRADE LEVEL. School Wide Goal of 50 articles per student by June 1st = SCHOOL-WIDE celebration with a t-shirt showing our theme. In addition, the top 5 students who have shown the most growth from the 2 nd Level Set Test to 3 rd Level Set Test will go to Knott’s Berry Farm (or similar amusement park).

Reading Competition Dates to Remember January 15 th – Students will be informed January 20 th – Students begin Achieve during Advisory January 26 th – Lexile Level Set Testing window opens March 6 th –1 st data analysis April 24 th - 2 nd data analysis June 1 st - Lexile Level Set Testing window opens June 5 th - 3 rd data analysis
