Lacey Act of 1900 Significant changes have occurred in 1969, 1981, and 1988 expanding the Act Law only applies in US By Jacques Bialostozky P:2

Law Protects plants and wildlife Gives civil and criminal penalties for any violations to law Prohibits trading of wildlife, fish, and plants that have been illegally taken, transported or sold. Originally created to protect game species Now serves the purpose of preventing spread of exotic species.

Responsible for Act Introduced by John F. Lacey Administered by the Departments of the Interior, Commerce, and Agriculture. Specifically by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Marine Fisheries Service, and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
