What is the Canadian government doing about Climate Change? On November 27 th / 2012, Canada’s Environment Minister the Honourable Peter Kent, “announced proposed regulations to improve fuel efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emission of light truck and cars from ” (News Release, 2012) Kent went on to conclude “that it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50%” and “this will allow fuel savings of $900 per/year/car” (News Release, 2012)

What will this mean for the average Canadian? The average Canadian will be saving money because our cars and light trucks are more efficient (less fuel to drive greater distances) The new regulations will also result in a significant reduction in the amount of GHG released into our atmosphere
