What is an imposter?

An imposter is: – someone or something trying to look like someone or something else.

What imposter did you learn about? Infinitive He wanted to find the treasure. I

Today’s Goal To find and “mark out” a second imposter!

Sometimes there are words for people, places, or things in sentences that are not the main subject of a sentence. These words are imposters!

Both of the words below are things/nouns: Subject? Subject? The ball rolled into the street. So, is this sentence about the ball, or is it about the street?

So, which is the real subject? Which is the imposter? MARK MARK The ball rolled into the street.

Do you see the word “to” in the sentence? no Then there can’t be an infinitive.

Preposition There is another imposter called a preposition. The ball rolled into the street. into is a preposition The ball rolled into the street. into the street is a prepositional phrase.

MARK Now, ask where is the verb? P The ball rolled into the street. V

MARKMARK Now, root out the subject by asking who or what rolled into the street. V P The ball rolled into the street. S So, ball is the subject and street is the imposter.

 Prepositional Phrases are groups of words that show where or when the action takes place.

Each Prepositional Phrase contains a preposition and at least one person, place or thing word.ntains a preposition and at least one person, place, or thing word. SVP (noun) The ball rolled into the street. The preposition “into” shows where the ball rolled.

There are 44 prepositions! This is way too many to memorize. We need some…
