Project scope put simply Torbay has a 2008 Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, so what now?? Two stage project for Torbay: Evaluation & Prediction

Simplified Commissioning Process Strategic Planning Assessing needs  Reviewing service provision  Deciding priorities  Procuring Services Designing services  Shaping structure of supply  planning capacity & managing demand  Monitoring & evaluation Supporting choice  Managing performance  Seeking public views 

JSNA for the Local Strategic Partnership 2008 JSNA followed the four community plan themes for Torbay

Evaluation Themed commissioning groups are being established for the LSP Each theme is represented in the ’08 JSNA Planned involvement early in each themed group Assist each group to determine appropriate set of priorities – potentially used to rewrite LSP community plan

Prediction The JSNA shows ‘outdated’ need that will be a basis for prioritisation Basket of priorities from the LSP commissioning Groups What can we expect in the future – over the next 3 to 5 years, and also more longer term 5 to 10 years.

Further comments / help? Dilemmas to be discussed locally: How often to undertake a full JSNA? This year will be a ‘mini’ supported with a suit of tools How to present future JSNAs? How to present predictions?

Timeline Inaugural Strategic Commissioning Partnership meetings in June Hopeful that July / August facilitate a series of workshops Evaluate / identify gaps within JSNA Identify priorities August / September model predictive element
