Youth perception of the industry Participants were asked how they rank the industry on key issues: Would you consider a long term career in the industry?

The industry’s social and environmental performance When asked to provide ideas on how the industry could improve its social and environmental performance, the key suggestions were:  By taking responsibility  Taking a lead in addressing environmental and social issues and going beyond minimum requirements  Invest in developing new technologies for cleaner energy and more efficiency  Put the environment first  Openly communicate its activities and highlight the benefits of positive action  Engage the youth and invest in sustainable youth programmes  Honesty and transparency  Ensure local communities receive fair benefits from petroleum wealth  Reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions  Commitment of the top executive and engagement from the workforce

What would you like to say to an industry CEO? When invited to come up with questions to ask a CEO, the suggestions focused on a number of issues:  How does your company contribute to environment pollution?  What is your strategic plan for sustainable energy?  How could we provide security of energy & power for the next generation?  What are you doing to diversify the company´s portfolio into renewable energies?  What are you doing to address the demographic issues that the industry is facing?  Would you give up your car and cycle or walk to the office?  What are the long term perspectives for oil companies?  How are you encouraging women to join the oil and gas industry?  What are your key challenges?  How much do you invest in research and development?  What should young people study today for a career in the oil industry?  How did you get to where you are today and what makes a great leader?

What can the industry do to attract more young people? Environmental consideration, early engagement, mentoring and long term career planning were listed as key ways to attracting youth to the industry:
