ROMANIA’S MAP

ROMANIA. Population: 22,607,620 peoples. Area: 238,391 sq km (91,843 sq miles). Form of Government: with the Constitution adopted in 1991, Romania is parliamentary republic, with two chambers. Romania’s National Day: December 1, the day when the national unitary state was founded in 1918

MY COUNTRY Romania lies on the South-Eastern part of Central Europe, at the threefold crossroads, between Eastern Europe, Central Europe and Southern Europe. A characteristic of Romania’s place on the world’s map is the fact that on its territory the 45 degrees North parallel crosses the 25 degrees East meridian, that is the mathematic coordinates that mark the half way between the Equator and the North Pole and between the Atlantic coast of Iberian Peninsula and the Eastern border of the continent the Ural Mountains, respectively. The particularity of Romanian land, as European crossroad, is due in the first place to the Carpathians, mountainous ring which justifies the great relief variety and assures nevertheless the harmonious unity of this territory, then the Danube, which along history has been one of Europe main circulation axes on which collects the waters of almost all the rivers in Romania, to the Danube Delta and to the Black Sea, a true European chain loop with the famous Oriental caravan routes, and nowadays on access link to the Planetary Ocean. The capital city is Bucharest and other main cities are: Timisoara, Iasi, Constanta, Sibiu, Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Targu-Jiu etc. The official language is Romanian, a language of latin origin.
