About me… Mr. Silverman Chemistry Room 4302 Room ext (See page 1 of syllabus)

A little about you…. Please complete the Student Data Survey at this time. The survey will be collected alphabetically. Wait for instructions please. Make a class folder.

Syllabus… I will go over some highlights in this PowerPoint, but it is your responsibility to read the syllabus and ask any questions you have. If its in the syllabus, you are responsible for it !!!! Be sure to get the syllabus signed and put it in your binder.

Textbooks The book is Pearson Chemistry or Earth Space Science. 9 th and 10 th graders will use the book on your tablet. Chemistry 11 th and 12 th graders can use the portal book or request a paper text. Earth Space science students will ALL receive a paper text soon. Lost books are expensive and block your diploma and transcripts until paid! Books must be returned the day of the final exam.

Uniform… Tops : white, black, royal blue collared polo n0 t-shirts. Bottoms: black or khaki pants or shorts. shorts must be of proper length! blue jeans on Fridays ONLY! Shoes: closed toe shoes! no flip flops, crocs nor open toed shoes. ID: in possession at all times. You need it for lunch.

Materials…. Paper – Ruled and graph. Pencils – Lead and colored pencils. Highlighter. Scientific calculator. USB Flash Drive is useful, but not required. Lab Book Containing Graph Paper. 3 – Ring binder (No more than 1”) with 5 Dividers: Bellringer Vocab. Learning Activities Home Learning Notes

Ready to Learn: This classroom is a SAFE ZONE! Arrive on time! Bring Materials. Organize your thoughts by taking notes. Listen and speak respectfully… Share ideas within groups. No food or drinks in class!

Assignment Criteria… See pages 1 and 4. All work must be completed in time allotted. Late work will NOT be accepted. All work must be neatly done and legible. Homework will be posted on school website. Make sure you check daily! &type=u &type=u Make up work for EXCUSED absences only!

Edmodo Go to Your class code is on my webpage. Open or create your account and join my class. Update your log-in information. Check the site everyday and keep current with the pacing guide. More information will be given later. This is a “flipped” classroom. If you do not use Edmodo and my webpage, you will be lost!

Gizmos Go to Your class code is on my webpage. Open or create your account and join my class. When a Gizmo is assigned, download and print the Exploring Guide. Complete the handout while doing the Gizmo. Take the quiz AFTER you complete the handout. Only your first score counts. Score resets cost $1chem. Log-in lookups cost $1chem. If you make multiple accounts, I will delete them ALL!

Science $ The first 10 are your required participation grade. The next 20 are extra credit (no more than 20 extra per quarter. Earn them by participating, going to board, etc. Restroom pass costs $1 (Limit once per period). Tardy cost $1/5 min. (If you are more than 10 min. late, Chem $ are not accepted and further discipline is likely). You may roll over your extra $ to the next quarter.
