Admittance to the TACHS Exam ●The week before the test, we will get your son/daughter’s Admit Card (we will photocopy it and retain the copy) ●Check the information on the Admit Card and note the time and location for your son/daughter’s test ●Select THREE schools and write the school NAME & CODE in the order of preference ●Sign the bottom and bring it to the test location along with sharpened #2 pencils and an eraser ●NO CELL PHONES INSIDE OF THE TEST LOCATION

What happens next? ●We submit your son/daughter’s application ●TACHS results arrive at the High Schools Friday, December 11, 2015 ❖ Release of Admission notices by high schools Wednesday, January 13, 2015 ●Response cards back to high schools according to the schools specifications Next step Public School Applications

Applying to Specialized High Schools ●All students are entered into the database ●Students let Mrs. Baptiste know if they are interested in taking the test and she activates their information ●Registration is open and ENDS October 15 ●Test dates Saturday, October 24, 2015 & Sunday, October 25, 2015 ●Test tickets are available on October 21, 2015 ●You can access the website with the handbook online ●Once you accept placement in a specialized school, the public school process is over

Applying to Public High School ●Borough High School Fairs take place on October 17th & 18th ●We will distribute directories with the application ●Schools are divided by borough ●You select 12 in order of preference and return the application to the homeroom teacher by OUR assigned date-we submit the application via the computer ●Results are in around March ●If you are not happy with your choice, you apply again round two ●Results come back around late May early June ●If you are still not happy with your placement, you may appeal and the results will be sent to you in the summer

Applying to Public Schools continued Things you need to know 1.If you are still not happy with your placement, you may apply over the counter during August 2.All applications are date sensitive 3.In the round two process, once you forfeit your given school from round one to participate in round two, you may not go back to your round one placement once you have relinquished it. 4.In the appeals process, once you forfeit your given school from round two to participate in the appeals process, you may not go back to your round two placement once you have relinquished it. 5.Student Supports-see page 17 in the handbook.
