DISTRICT GRANT District Grants are block grants that enable clubs to address immediate needs. District grants support small projects Districts manage and disburse these funds to support district and club sponsored activities. District grants are below $30,000 The District Foundation chair gives notification when clubs should submit their projects for funding 3

GLOBAL GRANTS Global Grants offer clubs or districts opportunities to participate in strategically focused, high-impact activities. These grants fund large scale international humanitarian projects, vocational training teams, and scholarships. These grants have a minimum total budget of $30,000. All global grants must be sponsored by two clubs or districts (local and international partners). 5

ELIGIBILITY Clubs that are eligible to undertake district grants must be: a.Qualified (signed MoU with District) b.Club in good standing (Paid both district dues and semi- annual dues of RI) Clubs that are eligible to take global grants must be: a.Qualified (signed MoU with District) b.Club in good standing c.Must have attended Rotary Foundation Seminar d.Must have no overdue grant report and no conflict of interest 6

ACTIVITIES FUNDED District and Global Grants Must address one or more of the six (6) areas of focus, namely: a.Peace and conflicts prevention/resolution b.Disease prevention and treatment c.Water and sanitation d.Maternal and child health e.Basic education and literacy f.Economic and community development 7

HOW TO PREPARE A GRANT APPLICATION 1.Club should decide on the project to be undertaken (board and general meetings) 2.Club to do community needs assessment 3.Club to look for international partner in the case of global grants. District grants do not need any international partner 4.Grants committee (main contact person and two alternative contact persons- local and international) 8

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING A GLOBAL GRANT APPLICATION a.District numbers b.Club names c.Rotary member names for six committee members (three local, three international) d.One sentence summary for grant title e.Understand metrics and sustainability f.Create a member access address and password to log into g.Know the abbreviation for the currency in the target country such as GHS for Ghana Cedis 9

STEPS TO FOLLOW IN GLOBAL GRANT APPLICATION A.PLANNED ACTIVITIES 1.In a few short sentences, tell us your objectives for this global grant 2.Who will benefit from this global grant? Provide the estimated number of direct beneficiaries. 3.Which of the following activities will this global grant fund? (select all that apply)  Vocational training team  Scholarship  Humanitarian project 10

Please identify the communities, city or village and country where the project will take place 5.When do you anticipate your project will take place? 6.Outline your project implementation schedule. Please include planning for grant writing and approval as well as major dates for the implementation and completion of the grant 11

Provide any relevant data or survey results. 2.Detail how your project will address these community needs 3.How were members of the community involved in planning the project? Does your project align with any current or ongoing local initiatives? 12

AREAS OF FOCUS Global grants must support the goals of at least one of Rotary’s areas of focus. Select the most applicable area(s) of focus and goal(s) that your activity will support: 13

STEPS TO FOLLOW IN GLOBAL GRANT APPLICATION H.BUDGET SUSTAINABILITY Describe the process for selecting these items. Do you plan to purchase any items from local vendors? Have you performed a competitive bidding process to select vendors? Do these budget items align with the local culture and technology standards? How will the beneficiaries maintain these items? If applicable, confirm that spare or replacement parts are readily available and that the beneficiaries possess the skills to operate equipment 22

STEPS TO FOLLOW IN GLOBAL GRANT APPLICATION Who will own the items purchased with grant funds at the end of the project, including equipment, assets, and materials? Note that items cannot be owned by a Rotary Club or Rotarian I.FINANCING Please complete this section in the spreadsheet grant template. To determine the World Fund match for your Global Grant, list all sources of funding, specifying contributions from cash, DDF, and other sources. Note that the total financing must be equal to the total budget of your activity. 23
