SIRAJ Final Workshop - Rabat 28th May EGNOS presentation EGNOS NPA Availability: EGNOS APV Availability: EGNOS APV-I Availability is defined here as the percentage of epochs in a month in which the Protection Level are below Alert Limits for this APV-I service (HPL<40m and VPL<50m) over the total period. EGNOS NPA Availability is defined as the percentage of samples in which the Horizontal Protection Level is below Alert Limit for NPA (HPL<556m) over the total period. EGNOS NPA Availability is defined as the percentage of samples in which the Horizontal Protection Level is below Alert Limit for NPA (HPL<556m) over the total period.

SIRAJ Final Workshop - Rabat 28th May Main advantatges of procedures based on EGNOS  Optimised approach routing from various arrival directions  Optimum descent profile  Engine-idle descents  Improved track keeping  Use of more flexible route and procedure designs  Limited need for ground infrastructure  Can be implemented in areas where ILS cannot be sited for terrain or obstacle reasons  Can provide approaches to more runways without additional infrastructure costs  Increase the usability of many airports  Reduced fuel burn and noise footprints  Reduced environmental impact  Reduced Radio Traffic (R/T)  Reduced controller and pilot workload  Reduced delays, diversion and cancellations due to bad weather  Reduced costs Aircraft Operators Airports and Air Navigation Service Providers Leading to: APV SBAS Advantages:

SIRAJ Final Workshop - Rabat 28th May Where to implement EGNOS procedures? The identification of the most suitable airports for implementing APV procedures should take into account the following aspects:  Balance between airport traffic and its infrastructure (see table)  Strategy of each airport (General aviation flights, commercial airport, hub)  Interest of airlines and operators  Political wills, as the implementation of new procedures have a direct impact to the airport and its associated area …in general, major benefits are obtained by implementing APV in small and medium airports without ILS or only with one ILS installed. For NPA RWYs As back-up for the ILS
