Quality of Teaching Knole Academy

Ofsted Ofsted found that 85% of our teaching and learning is good or outstanding, based on observation of over 50 lessons. Internal and externally commissioned lesson observations viewed over a thousand lessons in 2014/15 academic year. We do not tolerate teaching that is not at least good.

Grammar Curriculum Knole Academy

Objective To provide an accelerated, stimulating curriculum which allows students to access a broad range of facilitating subjects.

KS3 Years 7 and 8 only. An abbreviated KS3, students currently in our grammar stream are reaching level 7 and 8 by the end of year 7. If we followed a three year Key stage 3 they would plateau in Year 9.

KS4 Options process at the end of Year 8. Students choose 3 option subjects out of a list that includes; Psychology, Sociology, Law, Economics, Computing, Engineering, Food, Physical Education, Art, Business, Religious Studies, Music, Drama. Students also follow a core curriculum of GCSE subjects; English Language and Literature, Mathematics, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History/Geography and French.

KS4 Students follow this range of subjects for three years with exams at the end of Year 11. For most subjects early entry is unlikely as we want to give all students the maximum amount of time to achieve A* equivalent (8/9) grades.

KS5 Those facilitating subjects will provide an ideal basis for A- level study. Our Sixth Form is rapidly expanding and we offer pathways in all subject areas.

Entry Knole Academy

Entry to the Grammar stream Students passing the Kent Test are guaranteed a grammar place for their time at Knole Academy. Students narrowly missing on one element of the Kent Test are offered a conditional place in the grammar stream which is dependent on them making sustained progress. Students who have a recommendation from their primary school head teacher, however with removal of KS2 levels this is less relevant. KS2 levels as provided by the DfE Entry from our Saturday morning testing.

Academic Year 2015/16 Current Year 7: We intended to have three grammar classes with capacity for 90 students. We allocated 123 places based on Kent School Test results and therefore created an additional grammar form of entry. 85 of these students took a place at Knole Academy There are currently 120 students in the grammar stream in Year 7and 8, there are 90 students in the grammar stream in Year 9 and 10.

Offers We cannot promise a place in the Grammar Stream as part of an offer, admissions is controlled by Kent We can, however, provide a letter stating that if you were to be successful in an application to Knole Academy we would offer a place in the grammar stream If you would like this assurance you need to send a copy of the Kent Test results to Mrs Justine Mountford c/o Knole Academy before the release of the Kent Test results
